English Language Programs

If English is not your first language, you may qualify for LINC classes (for newcomers to Canada) or ESL (English second language) classes.

Our English language programs include:

Day Classes

LINC (levels 1-5) and ESL classes are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. Classes run from September to July, and are divided according to levels. You can start any time.

Simcoe (Phone Number 519-428-0064)

ESL classes are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Classes run from September to June. You can start any time.

Evening Classes

September to June.
Mondays and Wednesdays.
Offered in Brantford and Simcoe.
Classes are multi-level.

Citizenship Preparation Classes

Free classes offered in Brantford for students interested in preparing for the Citizenship test. Call (519) 751-2059 for the next start date.

Literacy Classes

For students who need to work on basic literacy skills in English. Classes run all year, from September to July.

Language Assessments

Available by appointment only. (519)759-3170
We evaluate your listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities, using the Canadian Language Benchmarks. All students must have a language assessment before starting classes.

Computer Lab

Students from all classes can benefit from access to our on-site computer lab. Basic instruction in the use of computers is provided.

Summer Camp for kids

G.E.L.A. works with the YM-YWCA of Brantford to provide a four-week program in July for children aged 6 to 12 years. We combine English language learning with fun and games.
